I asked a friend of mine to post a story on this site about what he thought about video games. This is his take. -- David
This is one tough-ass question. Frankly, i have no clue what I think about video games. I know they're cool, but thats not very descriptive, now is it?
In many ways, I'm an average teenage gamer. I favor one system, I play a normal amount of hours a week, and I have a life (really). I believe that video games are like art, its all about perception. I may think that the PlayStation sucks the teatteat of the devil, but on the other hand my best friend loves the hell out of it.
My beliefs about video games in a whole will always differ from the next gamer no matter the circumstances. I also believe that video games (for the moment) are gender specific. I do know a few girls that game at the level of an average teenage male, but I can still count them on one hand. The video game industry's "audience" is growing, but TRUE "fanboys" will always be labelled as another species. Trust me, I'm not trying to be negative here, I'm just stating the facts.
There are some things that are uber good that are going on in the video game world. Jocks like me can now play video games publicly, and can be proud of it too.
On the contrary to the almighty Dave, I believe that we (teenagers that is) do know a thing or too about video games. In fact, I think we know ten times more than seventy-five percent of the adult gamers. This is mainly based on the fact that the youth of today can get sucked into the game more than the average adult. I do admit that there are some teenagers that have no clue about video games, but thats just life. And with that, "I'm done for the day, so goodbye and good gaming.
